What to Expect.

Reflexology

FIRST THINGS FIRST

If you’re new to reflexology, I would recommend a one off taster session.

A taster session typically lasts 45 minutes and begins with an informal chat where basic details are noted alongside completing a contraindication form. This considers any pre-existing conditions, any allergies you may have and medication you may be taking.

If you later decide to undertake a course of treatment then a thorough client record will be taken, in addition to diet and lifestyle information. This session typically lasts an hour and a half.

A TYPICAL TREATMENT

The beauty of reflexology compared to other therapies is that you simply need to remove your shoes and socks, settle back on the reflexology chair and … relax!

The treatment starts by noting any visible areas which may suggest potential imbalances followed by a gentle foot massage to familiarise you with the type of pressure used, which is gentle but firm and not at all ticklish. This can easily be adjusted to a lighter or firmer pressure if required. Both feet are then individually treated, working through all the systems of the body, finishing with a relaxing massage.

Throughout the treatment an organic aromatherapy balm is used.

Further Information.

REFLEXOLOGY CAN HELP WITH

  • STRESS & ANXIETY

  • PROBLEMS WITH SLEEP/INSOMNIA

  • HORMONAL IMBALANCE

  • DIGESTIVE ISSUES

  • LOW IMMUNITY

  • CIRCULATORY ISSUES

  • FATIGUE

Reflexology focusses on reflex points on the feet and hands. These reflexes correspond to all the systems of the body.

Applying gentle pressure to these points using renowned massage techniques can stimulate the body’s own natural healing processes.

Reflexology is a gentle therapy that seeks to bring the systems of your body back into balance.

However, in order for balance to be achieved sometimes things can be stirred up. So, while the main side effects of treatment are usually deep relaxation, improved sleep and general wellbeing, occasionally someone might experience the possible side effects mentioned here.

These should pass within 24 hours following your treatment and are completely normal. If however they persist for an extended period of time please seek advice from your general practitioner.
